KNIN, Croatia — Croatian rescue services found the body of a scuba diver who disappeared while exploring caves at the spring of the Cetina River.
Authorities told CDNN that Degan Sarman, 38, was diving illegally in the cave system when he went missing.
Rescue service head, Vinko Prizmic, said the search and recovery effort was especially difficult due to the complex system of flooded tunnels and caves, which are more than a 100 meters deep.
Prizmic told CDNN the victim's body was found at a depth of about 24 meters near the village of Civljane, about 20 kilometers southeast of Knin.
The accident is under investigation and authorities warned divers not to dive in the area.
