LAKE SHASTA, California — A 20-year-old man died while scuba diving in Lake Shasta.

Authorities told CDNN that Jeremiah Murray, of Dublin in the San Francisco Bay Area, disappeared while diving alone about noon on Tuesday after he briefly resurfaced and raised his arms.

Friends called for help and authorities launched a search for the missing diver, who was visiting Lake Shasta with a church group.

A Shasta County Sheriff's dive team recovered the victim's body at about 8:20 pm on Tuesday.

Murray's scuba diving equipment will be examined to determine if it malfunctioned and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
