BIG PINE KEY, Florida — A diving accident killed another Florida divers as she hunted for lobsters in the Florida Keys today. Authorities told CDNN that Louann Greene, 33, of St. Petersburg, is missing and presumed dead after she disappeared on Saturday afternoon while diving for lobsters with a hookah rig at Big Pine Key. Witnesses said Greene, who was wearing a weight belt, briefly resurfaced from a depth of about six meters and was in obvious distress. Family and friends tried to help but she disappeared beneath the surface as her husband tugged in vain on her air hose. Greene, fondly called "Spitfire" by the many young girls she mentored, was a popular youth softball and cheerleading coach in Pinellas County. "It will be very difficult to finish out the season this year," assistant coach and friend Tonya Sevier told reporters. "To have to go to every game and every practice and know that she's not there." Greene also worked at a medical clinic in St. Petersburg that treats patients with allergies. "She was like a light in this office that lit everything up, so I feel like there's a lot of darkness right now that she's gone," Dr. Mona Mangat, Greene's boss, told reporters. Greene is survived by her husband and two daughters, 9 and 13. Dead Florida lobster diver #9 Greene was the ninth person to die during Florida's annual lobster season, which kicked off with last week's 2-day "mini-season". Although the U.S. Coast Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials and local television and newspaper media continue to state that four people died during the annual mini-season event, in fact, five divers died including Norman Williams, 60, Bruce Ellwood Cook, 58, Scott Schichtel, 39, Shane Slusarz, 36, and Daniel Pochedley, 48. Since the deaths of the five mini-season divers, Brian Harlin, 25, Courtney Spikes, 32, Kaiser Calcuttawala, 67, and Greene have died while diving in Florida for lobsters.
