August 13, 2009

NORTH KINGSTOWN, Rhode Island — According to an autopsy report, a local diver died after his diving equipment failed.

CDNN previously reported that Louis Ricciarelli, 56, of Exeter, Rhode Island, was found dead still attached to his air hose and tethered to the Chelsea Ann, the 25-ft commercial dive boat from which he made his living.

The State Medical Examiner found that Ricciarelli died after his diving equipment malfunctioned, cutting off his air supply while he was diving for shellfish off Quonset Point.

Ricciarelli is survived by his wife Deborah, daughter, Chelsea, and son, Ross.
