GILCHRIST COUNTY, Florida — A scuba diver died while cave diving at Ginnie Springs in an area known as "Devils Eye". Authorities told CDNN that Bruce Clark Bosshardt, 58, of Alachua, died while exploring the cave system with friend, Gary Hildman. Hildman told Gilchrist County Sherrif's Office investigators that he resurfaced after he and Bosshardt lost contact during the dive. When Bosshardt failed to resurface, Hildman reported a missing diver emergency to Ginnie Springs staff Supported on the surface by Sheriff's Office personnel, the Ginnie Springs' cave dive team searched the cave and found the victim in part of Devil's Eye called "Henry's Crack". At about 4:30 pm, some four hours after Bosshardt was reported missing, the search and recovery divers resurfaced with the body of the victim. Gilchrist County Sheriff's Maj. Tony Smith said it will take at least a month to determine the cause of death. |
