GLOUCESTER, Massachusetts — Police are investigating a fatal scuba diving accident that killed a man off Gloucester.

Authorities told CDNN that Paul Foley, 46, died today after he ascended from a depth of about 10 meters and called for help.

Other divers pulled the scuba diving accident victim from strong surf at Back Shore.

Witnesses said efforts to revive Foley at the scene failed and he was later pronounced dead at Addison Gilbert Hospital.

Foley was scuba diving with three friends, all firefighters from West Springfield.
