ISLE OF MULL, Scotland — An experienced scuba diver who disappeared while diving off Ardnamurchan Point on the Isle of Mull is feared dead.
Coastguard officials told CDNN horrific weather conditions forced them to suspend their search and rescue effort.
A spokesman for Clyde Coastguard said: "The weather that the man started off in was reasonably fine, but it has become pretty horrific, with winds of force six or seven and deteriorating visibility."
Authorities have not yet identified the missing diver but said he was a local resident who has been scuba diving off Mull for over 40 years.
Before the search was called off due to bad weather, the searchers found the victim's orange float and spear gun on the north side of Mull in Sanna Bay.
Coastguard officials said the missing diver search will resume when the weather breaks.
