POOLE, UK — A man who was injured while scuba diving in Swanage Bay was airlifted to hospital by Portland Coastguard.
Authorities told CDNN the scuba diving accident victim was bleeding from his ear and thought to be suffering from the bends.
Doctors at the Diver Clinic in Poole said the victim was suffering from a burst eardrum, not the bends.
Witnesses said the diver apparently descended too rapidly and apparently failed to equalize his inner ears.
According to Divers Alert Network in North Carolina, which sells diver insurance policies via a company based in the Cayman Islands to avoid paying taxes in the U.S., "bowling is safer than scuba diving".
