WASTWATER, UK — Police are investigating a scuba diving accident that killed a man in England's deepest lake. Authorities told CDNN that Wayne Rowbotham, 40, of Thornton-Cleveleys, died while scuba diving with friend, Will Charnley, at Wastwater. Charnley, 34, said he lost contact with Rowbotham at a depth of about 50 meters, searched for him for two minutes, then resurfaced and shouted to other divers that his buddy was missing. They called the police and a search for the missing diver was launced at 11:37 a.m. About 12 hours later, rescue divers recovered Rowbotham's body. Charnley said he had been scuba diving for 10 years and Rowbotham started diving in 2005. Rowbotham's family said they were devastated by his sudden death. |
