GUAM — A man died while night diving with friends near Talafofo Bay. Authorities have not yet identified the diving accident victim but told CDNN a 40-year-old man disappeared while diving with four friends. The group entered the ocean about 8pm on Friday evening at First Beach. After encountering rough seas outside the reef, four of the five divers returned to shore and alerted authorities of a missing diver emergency at about 9:45 pm. According to Guam Fire Department Spokesperson Joey San Nicolas, the GFD, Guam Police Department's SWAT team, the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam and the Navy's HSC-25 assisted in the search for the missing diver. At about 3am Saturday morning, a Navy HCS-25 helicopter equipped with high-powered search lights located the body of the missing diver. Police are investigating the fatal diving accident and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death. |
