MALULU ISLANDS, Indonesia (25 June 2000) -- Fierce battles continue between Muslim and Christian gangs in the Maluku Islands. Thousands of members of both faiths have been killed in clashes in the Malukus over the last 18 months. In one of the worst incidents, over 4,000 Muslims rampaged through Duma last Monday killing over 175 Christians and abducting women and children.
