TOKYO, Japan (29 July 2000) -- Government officials in Japan have issued a travel warning advising Japanese not to travel to Fiji.

The travel warning is due to spreading civil unrest and lawlessness sparked by the overthrow of Fiji's democratically elected government.

Air New Zealand flights that previously connected Japan to Fiji will no longer stop at Nadi.

The flights will now fly non-stop between Japan and New Zealand.
