SURAT THANI, Thailand (10 Feb 2005) -- Tourism officials already struggling to spin tsunami death and destruction into an inviting holiday destination, now face an outbreak of deadly dengue fever in southern Thailand.

Lives were lost during a similar outbreak of the disease two years ago when health authorities failed to act quickly enough.

With over 70 cases reported, Thai government officials warned that unless the disease was brought under control and prevention measures were put in place immediately, lives could be lost again.
