SUVA, Fiji (8 May 2005) -- Fiji police are investigating the death of a young Australian tourist who was assaulted, robbed and murdered in his hotel room.

The body of Dale Raymond Groeger, 22, was found in his room at the Peninsula Hotel by a security guard.

Police said they are looking for a young Fijian male who was seen with the victim the night before his death.

CDNN Alert recently added a travel advisory on Fiji warning that tourists have been assaulted and robbed in Fiji.

The official Fiji tourism site - Fiji Visitors Bureau - contains no information about the tourists in Fiji who have been assaulted and robbed, however, it does advise visitors to lock all valuables in hotel safes.
