LAUTOKA, Fiji (2 Feb 2007) -- The charred and mangled remains of the two Canadian tourists and their Fiji pilot have been recovered by rescuers in the dense jungle near Lautoka.

Divisional Crime Officer Western ASP Waisea Kadawa told Fijilive.com that they managed to get the bodies with the help of 20 police officers, four army officers, firemen and Naqaqa villagers.

The bodies are being taken to the Lautoka Hospital.

"We will have to make arrangements for the post mortem after informing the families," he said.

The pilot has been identified as 22-year-old Frederick Mitchell.

The tourists (a male and a female), whose identity have not been disclosed, were on a sightseeing flight when their plane crashed near the Tavakubu hills around 4.30pm yesterday.
