PATTAYA, Thailand (25 Feb 2007) -- Two tourists were found shot dead on a popular Thai resort beach. Tatiana Tsimfer, 30, and Liubov Svirkova, 25, were shot repeatedly while they relaxed in deck chairs on Jomtien Beach in Pattaya. Police investigating the murder said a hotel security guard told them he heard multiple gunshots and saw a Thai man speeding away on a motorcycle. "At the moment, we don't know why they were shot," Major Sretha Maklon of Pattaya police said. The women arrived on February 16 as part of a group tour from Russia and were due to return home on March 1. Pattaya is a popular beach resort located about 110km southeast of Bangkok. In recent years, violence against tourists including rape and murder has sharply increased at all of Thailand's popular beach resorts. © CDNN - CYBER DIVER NEWS NETWORK |
