SPEYSIDE, Tobago — Two British women on holiday in Tobago with their husbands were robbed and sexually assaulted in Black Rock just 10 days after a Swedish couple was chopped to death. Authorities told CDNN the victims were staying at the Black Rock Dreams guesthouse when a lone bandit armed with a 10-inch knife entered their suite at about 2:00 am and forced them to hand over their money, jewelry and cell phones. The bandit, thought to be in his 20s, then sexually assaulted the women, both in their 50s. "The bandit forced the two females to have oral sex with him," said the owner of the holiday apartments. "The women were assaulted by the man several times. He was masked, wearing camouflage three-quarter pants, gardening gloves and boots, and he was equipped with a ten-inch knife. He was right handed and acted in a very professional manner. The couples were constantly pushed into a corner where they could not defend themselves," he added. Police said the bandit left the victim's suite after about 45 minutes when one of the males faked a heart attack. On October 11, CDNN reported that Swedish couple Ake Olsson, 73, and Anna Sundsval, 62, were chopped to death in their Tobago hotel room. There have been no arrests connected with the gruesome murders. According to international travel warnings, murder, rape and other violent crimes are rising steadily in Trinidad & Tobago. Travel advisories issued by the U.S. and the UK warned travelers that authorities in Tobago have failed to apprehend and prosecute perpetrators who have victimized tourists and local residents in a series of violent crimes. |
