South African police recover scuba diver's body

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (14 Nov 2003) -- The police diving unit recovered on Friday the body of a recreational diver, who had gone missing 24 hours earlier near Hout Bay harbour.

Inspector Stefan Buchner said the body of a 23-year-old man was recovered at Duikerysland at the outskirts of the Hout Bay harbour.

The body was weighted down with scuba diving gear.

 

Buchner said the cause of death would be determined by a post-mortem.

The man's name could not be released until his next-of-kin have been informed.
