GEORGETOWN, Cayman Islands (1 Jan 2004) -- A cruise ship passenger has died while scuba diving in the Cayman Islands.

Carl David Heinecke of Concorde New Hampshire, a passenger aboard the Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Wind ship, died boat diving in the popular South Sound diving area.

The dive boat crew attempted to revive Heinecke with CPR, however, the emergency response failed.

Authorities told CDNN they believe Heinecke drowned after suffering a heart attack.

Heinecke was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
