TIDENHAM, Gloucestershire, UK (13 Apr 2004) -- Police search teams have found two bodies believed to be those of two divers missing for more than three days at a flooded quarry. Work to recover the dead couple, who were in their 20s and from Berkshire, will begin later on Tuesday. The alarm was raised on Friday evening when their red Mondeo car was found at the National Diving Centre at Tidenham, Gloucestershire. Sonar equipment and a remote-controlled submersible were used in the hunt. A spokeswoman for Gloucestershire Police said: "Sadly I can confirm that last night at around 1700 BST we did discover two bodies in the quarry. "The bodies have yet to be removed from the quarry and that is due to take place this morning. | | "They have yet to be identified but unfortunately we do believe they are the bodies of the two people we have been searching for." Relatives of the missing man, who was 25 and from Ascot, visited the site on Sunday. The diving centre, which opened at the flooded Forest of Dean quarry a year ago, remains closed as investigations continue.
