METEGHAN, Nova Scotia (12 July 2004) -- A novice diver drowned scuba diving off Cape St. Mary's wharf in Nova Scotia.

Police identified the 50-year-old man as Raymound Boudreau of Richfield in Digby County.

Boudreau, a relative inexperienced diver who learned to scuba dive last spring, went missing while diving with friends.

When Boudreau failed to surface, his dive buddy went back down to find him.

After running low on air and surfacing to change his tank, the dive buddy resumed the search, found Boudreau about 10 minutes later and rushed him to a hospital in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

Efforts to resuscitate the victim failed and Boudreau was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday and as part of their investigation, police told CDNN they will check the victim's diving equipment.
