WEST GRAND TRAVERSE BAY, Michigan (16 July 2004) -- Metro police Field Training Officer Scott Baswell died Wednesday as the result of a diving accident while on vacation in Michigan, police said. Baswell, 38, a nine-year department veteran, was scuba diving with a group when the accident occurred. A Michigan native, he was diving in West Grand Traverse Bay, a part of Lake Michigan. | | The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Department was called to the scene. Other divers had recovered Baswell's body from 50 feet of water and attempted to give him cardiopulmonary resuscitation. |
