HAMPSHIRE, UK (20 Oct 2004) -- The family of a diver who died after becoming trapped under water while carrying out maintenance work on a canal lock in Gloucestershire, today spoke of their devastation following the tragedy. David Moore, 29, of Hampshire, was pulled from the water by a colleague after becoming trapped at Upper Lode Lock, Forthampton, near Tewkesbury, on Friday. He was airlifted to Cheltenham General Hospital in a critical condition but died that night. A joint police and Health and Safety Executive inquiry into the death is under way. | | His father Alick said: "David's family and his fiancée are completely devastated by this tragic event and are being supported and consoled by their large number of relatives and friends. "We have confidence that the official investigations will find out the sequence of events that lead to David's death and the true causes of his injuries.
