Singaporean tourist dies scuba diving in Australia

SYDNEY, Australia (19 Nov 2004) -- A young tourist from Singapore has died scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef.

Melvin Kin Thuan, 26, died while scuba diving near Lady Musgrave Island, a popular dive destination about 300 kilometers north of Brisbane.

According to local police, a doctor aboard the dive boat tried to revive Thuan after the scuba diving accident.

 

No further details were available and police declined to speculate on the cause of death.

An autopsy has been scheduled and police are investigating the accident.
