HAGATNA, Guam (27 Nov 2004) -- Two Guam fishermen have found the body of a dead scuba diver confirmed to be with the US Navy.

According to the Coast Guard, the body of a man wearing full scuba diving equipment was found in Asan Channel at 5:20 p.m. on Friday.

Lt. Arwen Consaul from the Navy Public Affairs Office confirmed that the man is with the Navy and probably from the submarine tender USS Frank Cable.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.  An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow to determine the exact cause of death.

So far in 2004, 23 people have drowned in Guam compared to only 6 in 2003.
