SUVA, Fiji (1 Aug 2002) -- Air Pacific employees ended their strike and returned to work last night after striking for two weeks. But Fiji Aviation Workers Association secretary Attar Singh said the workers remained extremely dissatisfied with management practices and would continue to call for changes in the Air Pacific board and replacement of CEO John Campbell. Campbell kept the airline running during the strike by calling in Quantas planes to maintain flights between Australia and Fiji during the peak holiday season. Despite a walkout of cabin crew and ground engineers, Campbell said most Air Pacific flights operated on or near schedule. | | According to reports, the Fiji government is considering union busting legislation that will jail strike leaders and de-register trade unions. © CDNN - CYBER DIVER NEWS NETWORKSCUBA FORUMDISCUSS THIS TOPIC - Dive in and have your say at Scuba Forum |
