RAROTONGA, Cook Islands (21 Sep 2004) -- Scuba divers who want to dive the Cook Islands may soon find better deals.

Virgin Blue has announced it is planning to launch a weekly fight from Australia to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands via Christchurch, New Zealand.

CEO David Huttner of Virgin Blue told CDNN the company hopes to launch the new flights by Christmas pending the outcome of negotiations with the incoming government of the Cook Islands.

Currently, Air New Zealand and Aloha Airlines fly to the Cook Islands, however, Aloha has announced it will end service later this year on December 11.
